Beeswax Wraps

Hey awesome bloggers,

Today I am here  with breaking news, animals are dying because of all the the plastic litter. You guys can help by reducing the amount of single use plastic, and to do that, you can make beeswax wraps just like we did. We decided to make beeswax Wraps because we want to reduce the amount of single use plastic. In Tuffery Class we have been learning about  single use plastic and what happens with all the plastic things we use. Do you know where all the plastic that you can not recycle goes? If you don't, it  goes to the landfill. Did you know that that it take  500 hundred years for a plastic bag to disintegrate?

We used these materials to make our beeswax wraps and don't worry I am going to tell you how to make it step by step:

Beeswax wraps

To make beeswax wraps, follow this recipe.

What you will need:

  • 100% cotton fabric

  • Pinking shears

  • Beeswax pellets

  • Baking paper

  • Iron

  • Old towel

  • Cardboard (optional)

Method:

  1. Choose a fabric that is 100% cotton.

  2. Cut the cloth using the pinking shears into a square ( measuring 30cm by 30cm.

  3. Sprinkle a handful of beeswax pellets onto the fabric and spread them out evenly.

  4. Put parchment paper on the top and the bottom of your fabric so that the iron does not get damaged.

  5. Iron the beeswax slowly so that it melts onto the fabric, you can use cardboard and a towel if you do not have anything to iron on.

  6. Peel of the parchment paper that is on the top paper slowly so that the beeswax does not peel off.

  7. Take the beeswax wrap from the bottom parchment paper.

  8. Let it dry and cool down so that your wrap is ready to use.
