Hello Bloggers

Deep in the ocean there is a dark pitch area called midnight zone.  We dont know much about the creatures that are found in the deep ocean because human haven't fully explored it. One of the known creatures that is found in the deep ocean is called Colossal Squid which weighs 495kgs.  In  New Zealand we have one of these squids on displayed in the wellington Te Rapa museum which weighs 500kgs.

The math problem we have to solve is that since the squid weigh 500 kgs how many kids and adults will it take to move the squid.
An adult can move 25kgs and a child can move 15kgs.

There many ways you can answer this question. My answer is 20 adults.
1 adult can carry 25kg so 4 adults x 25 kgs =100
so tat mean we have to do it like this: 4 (adults)x 5 (hundred)= 20 adults
Answer = 20 adults

  1. Hi Marwah,

    Your answer is perfect. Of course, there are many answers to this question, aren't there? There could be a combination of adults and children with the combined total capable of lifting the 500 kgs. But your answer of 20 adults is just right.

    Do you enjoy doing maths at school? I suspect you do. It can be like solving a puzzle, can't it? I always enjoyed learning ways of solving problems like this....

    I'm glad that you've been a part of the Summer Learning Journey program. I hope you really enjoyed it!

    Cheers,
    Leslie
