summer learning journey- Day 2 week 1 Activity 3

As salaam u alaikum bloggers,

Mr Chelsey Sullenberger known as Sully was a pilot for about 30 years. In 2009 he became famous after making a decision to make an emergency landing in Hudson river. All 155 passengers in the plane survived because of his brave decision and had a very safe landing. He was so brave because he stayed calm, this event became known as the ;miracle on the Hudson;

Well now it is time to talk about one person that I think that has been very brave. This person become known as a hero, on the terror attack in Christchurch. His name is Abdul Aziz and he is from Afghanistan, the same country as me. This year in the masjid Al-Noor in Christchurch there was a man who killed 50 Muslims and injured several more. He could have killed several others but Abdul Aziz came and chased the attacker away. Abdul Aziz is a very brave person who risked his own life so he can save everyone else. The attacker was frightened by Abdul Aziz's bravery, that he had dropped his gun and had then ran into his car and drove off. It was Abdul Aziz's heroic act and his religious background that helped save many lives. I hope that I never get caught in this kind of situation.

Thank you for reading

  1. Kia ora Marwah,

    Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I hope you have been enjoying this holiday period and have had some happy moments with your whānau. I was lucky enough to get away with my son and spend some quality time with him and my immediate family. We spent a lot of time at the beach enjoying the beautiful sunshine. What have you been up to this summer?

    I was blown away by the person who you have chosen to profile for your bravery activity. Abdul Aziz sure does sound extremely brave. I could not imagine being put in his situation and risking his own life to save others. It is amazing how some people emerge as being very brave in terrible situations like this. I would like to think that I would be as brave as Abdul Aziz if I was ever to experience a scary situation. It is great to see people like Abdul hailed as heroes for their couragous acts through this ordeal. What an inspiring person you have chosen to share with us.

    I thoroughly enjoyed reading your work, Marwah, and I hope that you will continue blogging with us over the summer.

    Have a beautiful day,
    Megan :)

    1. Hi Marwah,

      Riding quad bikes? That sounds like so much fun. Where did you get to go and do this?

      I tried riding a quad bike once and I wasn't very good. I managed to roll the bike, which I don't think happens very often. I may need to get over my fear and go out again. Do you have any tips for me?

      Thank you, I will enjoy the rest of my summer. I hope you do as well.

      Megan :)
