I hope you guys are enjoying your holidays. I am sorry I have not been responding to your comments because I am really busy at the moment. I will reply back to them as soon as I can. If you are wondering how I can do the summer learning journey, it is because I have scheduled it as a daily habit.
That was the boring part of my blog post now let's head to the fun part.
Do you know what pigpen cipher was used for?
In the 18 century pigpen cipher was used by Freemasons who was declared to be the inventor to this smart way of keeping things private. So the pigpen cipher is basically used to keep peoples records private.
Something I enjoyed was learning how to write in pigpen cipher. I found it challenging to write the right symbol for the letter especially when I had to write a sentence because they are very similar to each other. I learnt that Freemasons was the inventor of the pigpen cipher.
For the SLJ we had to write what our favourite beach is using the pigpen cipher.
I have a challenge for you guys!
can you break the code to find out what my favourite beach is?
Here it is:
I also did the step it up activity here is the slides and the video I had created:

Kia Ora Marwah,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Zana and I am a blog commenter from the Summer Learning Journey.
This activity is one of my favourites as I love code languages like pigeon code and also my Mum actually made this activity for the summer learning journey!!
You did an awesome job with this post, I enjoyed your video and you explained the coding really well and I am sure it will help your readers understand how to read and create their own code. You also deciphered the activity code perfectly, it is the famous hidden cave at Piha Beach!!
Great job creating your own pigeon code clue, it looked quite tricky and long but I think I have deciphered your clue and your favourite beach, it is long bay beach!
Let me know if I guessed correctly!!
Keep up the great work and I hope to see more of your posts over the summer.
Ngā mihi nui,
Zana Yates
Kia ora Marwah. Another awesome blog post. I really like the way you introduce your activities. I also think it's Long Bay. It's interesting because the first few letters took me a while to work out but then I was able to predict what the rest of the word might be. Did you find you got faster the more you used the code?
