Digital Siapo patterns

Talofa lava, bloggers

This week is Samoan language week!. We have been looking at Samoan art called Siapo (also known as tapa). The paper they use for siapo is from the mulberry tree.
The color that is mostly used for tapa is brown it could also be red, yellow, orange or black.

My class did this on google drawing and we  decided to share it with all of you. I think most of you guys learn about this topic at school too.
I did not know that they made the paper until I had watched a video.

we had to do:

  • copying and pasting
  • we had we had toy resize and rotate it
Thank you for reading my blog post
feel free to leave questions
and if you know more things from the Samoan culture comment it
bye

  1. Hello Marwah,
It is me Faisa, I was going through your blog and I saw your blog post you posted last week. Your Samoan Siapo pattern was amazing. It reminded me of when I was a Year 4 and I did it. Maybe next time try focusing on putting more patterns to make it look better. I also loved the way you how you tried explaining and I kind of can picture it so well done Marwah!

  3. Hi Marwah It's me Dahran. Remember me? I really like your Samoan Siapo picture you did!! Good job. It reminds me about when I was a Year 2 and I did a flower pattern on my one. We used coffee for the backround and black and brown pastel for the flowers. Maybe next time you should do more designs on your one.
